The Lifetime Fitness Trail Series that hosted several weeknight runs in the Twin Cities area last summer has been discontinued.
The good news is, Twin Cities Running Company and Rocksteady Running are co-sponsoring a new series to take its place: the Endless Summer Trail Series! TC Running Co. is one of the best running stores in the Twin Towns, with the best selection of trail gear (and not just shoes). Rocksteady Running is owned by the folks who put on the Zumbro, Afton, Superior Spring, and Superior Fall races – all first class events. And they’re both staffed by passionate ultra and trail runners who understand how to put on a good race and provide a great time for the participants!
This year, the series will consist of 3 races on Wednesday evenings:
Murphy-Hanrehan 10K | Wed. July 11th – Starts 6:30 PM
Hyland Lake 10K | Wed. Aug.1st – Starts 6:30 PM
French 5K | Wed. Aug. 22nd – Starts 6:30 PM
Registration opens on Tuesday, May 29. Get ready to enjoy an endless summer on the trails 🙂

New for 2012, USA Track and Field of Minnesota is having a Mountain/Ultra/Trail (MUT) Series and Trail Championship!
The series will consist of 5 trail races ranging from 5K to 25K. Since none of them are ultras or take place on mountains, I guess we’ll just call it a Trail Series 😉
The races are:
Chester Woods 10 Mile, Saturday, June 2
Afton Trail Run 25K, Saturday, July 7
TC Running Company Trail Series Race, August TBD
Salomon Autumn Trail Series Race, Wednesday, September 5
Muscle Milk Woodsy Full Woodsy (8.9 miles), Saturday, September 15
The Afton 25K will also be the Minnesota Trail Championship race, taking place on July 7 at Afton State Park. Word is, there will be prize money for the top three men and women in the open and masters categories (amount still to be determined).
Check here for more info.

The Twin Cities has a brand new summer trail series starting in just a few weeks!
This one is being put on by Finn Sisu and will consist of 5 approximately 5K runs – all at the Holland Lake Trailhead in Lebanon Hills in Eagan. The course will be a little different each week, but promises a wide variety of terrain: hills, flats, single track, ski trails, dirt, grass, sand, mud….
It’s a mostly Wednesday evening series, with one Thursday thrown in to keep you on your toes 🙂
Whether you’re a trail newbie or a seasoned veteran, here’s an opportunity to get out on some great trails with some awesome people!
